I spent all summer trying to figure out a question that, it turns out, is unfigureoutable: What can — and can’t — we say about sustainability right now?
It's a complicated question because we're in complicated times. Between tightening regulations, rising political pressures and a growing fear of saying the "wrong thing", there are no black-and-white answers.
But after months of research and reflection, I have come to some conclusions. And in the process, I've created some helpful frameworks and tools to help you navigate this brave new world of sustainability communications — not to mention a growing list of proof points, case studies and inspiring campaign examples.
I've also realized that so many of us are wrestling with the same questions — and that we can learn so much faster when we tackle them together. 🤗
That's why I'm super excited to share The Sustainability Communications Reset — a three-part live virtual masterclass designed to bring you up-to-speed on major developments from 2025 and empower you to enter 2026 with a clear, confident comms plan.
Over three weeks, we’ll dig into what’s shaping the space right now — from the latest regulations and political shifts to emerging norms and stakeholder expectations. We’ll unpack real-world case studies, learn a practical framework for making credible claims and explore how to go beyond compliance to build genuine trust and connection. And we'll do it with a hefty dose of community and connection.
What: Three 1-hour Zoom sessions over three weeks + a digital community learning platform and resource library
When: Two live cohorts in November and January (to start!)
Pricing: Two pricing tiers — €199 is the full rate and €129 is our more accessible rate. Or, invest just a bit more to join our Change Hub membership community and you can get access for free!
If you’ve been craving both practical guidance and a space to connect with others wrestling with the same questions, this is the course for you. Already more than a dozen sustainability and communications professionals have joined from our pre-launch, and I can’t wait to welcome more of you in!

This summer, we received more than 1,200 applications for a single sustainability communications strategist role — a record that's sparked some big learnings on the sustainability and social impact job market. In a new LinkedIn series, Jess shares some honest reflections that we hope are helpful for both job-seekers and hiring managers alike. Follow along at#RCHiringReflections (and share your questions in the comments!).
Framed as a business school case study (flashbacks! 🙈) this FT piece dives into a juicy dilemma sparked by the EU’s proposed “omnibus” amendments: if the CSRD gets scaled back, should companies keep reporting voluntarily? Featuring a Danish firm that has decided to stay the course, it raises sharp questions about whether sustainability reporting is a costly compliance exercise or a competitive edge. Use the built-in discussion questions to spark a team conversation. (8 minutes)

You know I love a practical resource, and this list from Trellis delivers. It gathers real prompts recommended by sustainability professionals who are already putting generative AI to work, from editing ESG reports to checking supplier progress and anticipating tough media questions. Bookmark-worthy for sure. (7 minutes)
This new report quantifies what many of us in sustainability communications already feel: saying too little can be just as risky as saying too much. Drawing on data from 500 companies across 16 sectors, it links strong environmental performance — and confident communication about it — to 6% higher EBITDA and greater reputational advantage. The takeaway? Silence isn’t necessarily safe.
This week I attended an event on futures literacy here in Amsterdam. Getting inspired by the speakers and conversations there reminded me of this practical toolkit we curated a few years back, which feels just as relevant now as it did then. It tackles one of the root causes of the climate crisis — our crisis of imagination — and is packed with practical tools and exercises to help marketers and changemakers “imagine better” and re-envision what a truly good life could look and feel like in 2030 and beyond.
👉 DIG DEEPER: Futures Thinking is October’s theme in the Change Hub, and we’re excited to welcome the sustainable link & co.’s Darina Elencheva and Alba Tiley for a live webinar at the end of the month to upskill our community on this powerful approach.
The team behind the famously irreverent card game is back with a new… let’s call it “product”. In a moment when most brands are playing it painfully safe, it’s refreshing to see one willing to take a stand.

Hey there change agents 👋 Hard to believe this is our last newsletter of 2025! While I was pulling together our annual “Favorite Sustainable Business Links of 2025” list (below) I found myself reflecting on the energy and momentum this year has brought, in a time when not all momentum in the wider world has felt so positive. Baby Isabel arrived in January, bringing a burst of joy that set the tone for everything that followed. Stepping back into work was its own adventure with two little ones...
Hey there change agents 👋 If there were ever a week for appreciation posts, it’s this one — so here’s mine for sustainable business, a field that never stops surprising, stretching and inspiring me. Here are a few things I’m especially grateful for this year 👇 The slow but steady progress hiding behind every “ESG is dead” headline. The people who still believe business can be a force for good — and are acting toward it. The courage it takes to say, “We don’t know yet, but we’re working on...
Hello friends, Next month marks nine years since I took the plunge into independent consulting — a leap that was equal parts exhilarating, terrifying and necessary. Lately, I’m noticing more and more people standing exactly where I once stood — some by choice, some by circumstance and many navigating that messy, complicated in-between. No matter how you got here, the questions tend to be the same: How do I stand out in a crowded space? How do I talk about what I do in a way that feels true to...
